Utilizing an equity-centered lens, this webinar will explore gambling-related impacts within Latinx/e communities. Participants will gain deeper awareness of cultural values, family dynamics, and community contexts that influence gambling behaviors and help-seeking. The training emphasizes practical strategies to strengthen engagement, build authentic partnerships, and expand access to culturally responsive, trauma-informed services. By addressing Structural Determinants of Health (SDOH) and systemic inequities, this session aims to support more effective prevention, intervention, and community engagement efforts that ultimately enhance quality of life for individuals and families.

Learning Objectives

  • Review of the Latinx/e populations in the US and MA
  • Review types of gambling in Latinx/e communities
  • Define Structural Determinants of Health and their impactson Latinx/e populations, prevention strategies and engagement opportunities
  • Outline common cultural elements, cultural characteristics andvalues of Latinx/e individuals and their families and 3-4 strategies to incorporate into programming planning and delivery; and
  • Identify available resources for Latinx/e populations, including additional training and further workforce development opportunities.
